What Type of Consultation Do I Schedule?

Automated scheduling is great, and most people understand how to use a shared calendar to schedule appointments.

But how do you know which type of appointment to schedule?

Consultation Types

You might have a general idea whether your needs fit into one of the attorney's practice areas. But what if . . . :

  1. you are not sure you need an attorney?

  2. you only have a quick question?

  3. you want to interview the attorney to find out whether she is a good fit?

  4. you are pretty sure this is not the right attorney, but you need help to know what type of attorney is right?

In a 15-for-15 consult, you can schedule fifteen minutes to talk about your legal issue without committing to further representation. While no legal advice will be provided to non-clients, this focused conversation might put you on the right track toward a solution. And it only costs  the equivalent of a trip to the coffee shop.

You (and spouse, if applicable) are ready to discuss your legacy in detail. You may not know whether a simple Will plan, a Trust, or updates to existing documents is the right move at this time, but you want to discuss it and formulate a plan. In this consult, you are committing to an hour to go over your goals and your existing ideas. By the end of the consult, you may receive a fee agreement for further representation, or you may decide to do more thinking. No harm, no foul. Your consultation fee is either earned during the hour with no further commitments, or it goes toward your purchase of a planning package.

Payment is required to set the appointment. See scheduling page for notes about cancellation.

This consultation type is reserved for current subscribers to the ARAG attorney network or Rocket Lawyer subscribers. For ARAG members: you should have either contacted ARAG to make a CaseAssist request (and obtained a number) or have an estate planning inquiry to be initiated by the Attorney. Please be prepared to provide a CaseAssist or Member ID.

Rocket Lawyer members: You should have contacted RL for an attorney referral and either made contact with the attorney or use the form to schedule the contact with the attorney. Appointments may be canceled by attorney if declined.

For all: Please provide names of any adverse parties or spouses when submitting the request for the purposes of conflict checks.

Only current or previous clients under a fee agreement should use this scheduling tool. (Previous clients who have exhausted their free consultations should instead send an email or call the attorney.) If you already know your issue will take greater than fifteen minutes to discuss, let the attorney know in the request notes how much time you need and whether you need to meet in person or provide documents in advance.

You may be asked to make a credit payment in advance, or to sign a new fee agreement, depending on your legal issue.
